“Most of us never give critical thought to our religious beliefs, or why we belong to a particular church. If our parents are Catholic, we are Catholic. If our parents are Church of England, we are Church of England. If our parents are Jewish, we are Jewish. Usually beginning at a very early age (e.g. Sunday school), we are taught the dogma of the particular church in which we have been placed. We are indoctrinated. This indoctrination continues throughout our formative years. We go to church, we hear the readings from the Bible, and we have the readings interpreted for us by the priest or the minister or whoever is conducting the service, and we generally accept the interpretation.” (Loc 110 of 1117)
