The False god Called “Chance”
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)
As we approach the end of the twentieth century, we leave behind a time of unparalleled accomplishment and turmoil. The achievements of this century are nothing less than staggering. At the beginning of this century most of the world still traveled at the speed of horseback. At the end we routinely travel at the speed of sound and communicate at the speed of light. But the twentieth-century has also provided one of the greatest paradoxes in history.
At the dawn of this century the western world was dominated by a theistic, predominantly Judeo-Christian world view. Universities such as Oxford and Harvard even required courses in theology for graduation. At the end of the twentieth century our public educational institutions and the national media expound primarily an atheistic or agnostic world view which is founded on Darwinian evolutionary theory. In the 1960’s this dramatic shift in world view reached its zenith with the declaration that “God is dead!”
This incredible paradigm shift, accomplished in about one hundred years, is unparalleled in history. There is however, a puzzling and paradoxical aspect of this dramatic shift in world view. While the twentieth-century intelligentsia confidently declared that God was dead, more evidence had accumulated for His existence than at anytime in history!
…More than anytime in history, the scientific evidence available to us today demands a transcendent Creator for this universe.
